You will not believe what it is going to be costing for some very cute items. If you haven't emailed, called or snail mailed the powers that be I suggest you do it. Here are some great items that only the rich will be able to afford, that is if the individual crafter can afford to do the testing. Prices range from $23,027.00 to $509.99 this is after testing, most of these items are between $10 to $80 before testing. This is no joke, The CPSIA, is making EVERYONE test their items and these are the projected costs for these items. With the new law that will go into effect Feb. 10, 2009, the CPSIA will require that each store selling products for children under the age of 12 test each product in our shops for lead. Each component will cost $70 for the lead testing. Add in the additional $350 per component for phthalates testing and that adds up. Each image can be clicked on to take you to the crafters item.

THANK YOU for helping to bring awareness of what this 'improved safety' law for our children will REALLY do! I agree - YOU ROCK!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping us raise awareness about CPSIA & adding us to your blog! I'd say that you rock, but the other two people ahead of me already did.
Oh, what the heck! YOU ROCK!

Thank you for helping to show the insanity of this law. I hope it will help convince more people to contact their elected officials to complain.
We are running out of time. I believe there are 23 days left until many of us will be forced to stop creating things we love.
This is a brilliant idea!
You can take it even further by pasting those 'CPSIA Specials' into emails and sending them to our government officials. They need to be bombarded with messages that spell out the true cost of doing business under the CPSIA as a micro-business.
More info and long list of government emails here-http://www.change.org/ideas/view_suggestion?suggestion_id=983
Let's get this law changed!
